In February 2008 Hybrid Technologies announced their development success of a new cathode material which will be incorporated into a Lithium Ion Polymer Battery that significantly increases operating voltage range and energy density. The company’s new Lithium Ion Polymer battery consists of a new cathode material with a "Superlattice Structure" allowing electric vehicles to be driven over 200 miles compared to the current 120 to 140 mile range and operates at a wide voltage range of 4.3V to 2V. The pure material was produced in-house and has been synthesized at an industrial scale.
Hybrid Technologies Battery Research and Developments:
Seldom have newly invented materials been tested in large scale production with most only being tested in limited small laboratory scale failing to implement the desired properties in large proportion production. Hybrid Technologies will synthesize all potential material in industrial levels and use it in high degree battery production. The company's philosophy is to bring potential battery materials from laboratory scale to industrial scale.
Hybrid Technologies has already begun in-house production of all “Superlattice Structure” in a higher density and optimizing the process parameters suitable for large batteries which will be used not only in electric vehicles but also in the field of “Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)”.
Price Reductions Announced
Hybrid Technologies announced (Feb. ’08) a substantial price reductions on the Smart Car, Mini Cooper, PT Cruiser and their all new Y-120 due to a 30% cut in cost of lithium batteries. In contrast to the continual increase in gas prices, the reduction in lithium battery costs allow Hybrid to pass savings directly to their customers.
New, reduced prices for Hybrid Technologies' 2008 models include the Mini Cooper at $57,500 for a $7,500 savings, the Smart Car at $43,500 ($1,500 savings), the PT Cruiser at $55,000 (savings of $10,000). Hybrid's new Y-120 will have an introductory price of $39,500.

Oil vs Naturally Green Electric

In an all-electric car, high energy density and light weight rechargeable lithium ion batteries are used. The batteries can be charged simply by using household electricity outlets which are discharged to power electric motors with zero emissions.
Electric cars are very reliable and maintenance free. There is no need of oil changes and filter change and tuning. Electric Vehicles have fewer than 1/10th as many parts as a gas car. There's no engine, transmission, spark plugs, valves, fuel tank, tailpipe, distributor, starter, clutch, muffler or catalytic converter.
The best way to reduce carbon emissions is to utilize the ever cleaner, greener, more renewable grid to power transportation. Only grid-rechargeable cars can attain the end goal of zero-emissions and ensure fuel price stability.
Plug-in Vehicle Facts
- Battery Electric Vehicles (EVs) are by far the most efficient vehicles in the world.
- According to the Department of Energy, enough excess generating capacity exists at night in the U.S. to charge 180 million vehicles without adding new capacity.
- All of our electricity is domestic except for a small percentage from Canada.
- Most people worldwide waste more electricity in their homes than they would use to drive their cars.
- Driving on electricity from the U.S. grid is far cleaner than driving on oil.
- Plug-in cars capable of 50 miles per day would meet the needs of 80% of the American driving [to work] public. Source: U.S. Department of Transportation.

SISM Research Report released April 9, 2008, Ernest Schlotter initiates Hybrid Technologies Inc. (OTC/PK: HYHY) coverage with a 12-month Target Price of $5.30 and a “Speculative Buy/4” Rating.
Ernest Schlotter, a senior analyst with SISM Research and a StarMine four-star analyst, has initiated coverage on Hybrid Technologies Inc. (OTC/PK: HYHY) with a 12-month target price of $5.30 and a “Speculative Buy /4” Rating, in a report dated April 9, 2008.
According to analyst Schlotter's Initial Report (summary points):
“The year 2007 was a major step forward for Hybrid as the Company has completed its development stage and is now ready for commercial production. Using its proprietary technology, Hybrid has successfully converted cars like the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the Mini Cooper, the Chrysler Crossfire, the Smart Car and the Toyota Yaris, scooters, bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, and even homes to zero-emission, from lithium power. An electric vehicle equipped with Hybrid’s unique battery pack and battery management system performs the same function as the gas tank in a conventional vehicle: it stores the energy needed to operate the vehicle. The car can then travel 100-120 miles on a single charge of its 35kWh battery pack, with a speed of up to 80 mph.”
Schlotter added: “The battery-powered electric vehicle (BPEV) market in general, however, is still plagued by limited range, long recharging times, and limited top speeds, despite rapid technological developments. Hybrid Technologies' electric vehicles, however, are close to perfect. The Company has worked tirelessly and now has products available for the market place. In early 2008, the Company's battery manufacturer slashed prices by more than thirty percent, making Hybrid's Y-120 emission free vehicles, at an introductory price of $39,500, affordable. The Company also developed in-house a highly advanced rapid battery charger system, which reduces the charge time by sixty-five percent. The Company is also developing a new battery that will allow electric vehicles to be driven more than 200 miles compared to the current 120 to 140 mile range.”
Analyst Schlotter concluded: “Electric powered vehicles will quickly gain meaningful share in the worldwide light vehicle market due to rising energy costs and increased emissions regulations. Hybrid Technologies is an emerging leader in the development and marketing of lithium-powered products worldwide and could benefit from this trend. Currently, the market is limited because of high prices, but this technology has the potential to become mainstream as production volume increases. Subsequently, vehicle prices should decline.”
